I thought we would take creative thinking outside the box today and take a look at a collection of works of art made of unusual materials. This article is a testimony of the fact that people get inspired by everything surrounding them and this generates some pretty amazing results. I bet you’ve never even thought of some the things I’m going to show you next! One thing is certain when it comes to art and design: beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
People are usually fascinated by unexpected things because it’s hard after so many years of existence to create or see something that no one has ever seen before. Hence, the deep appreciation for someone who manages to come up with an original idea. Whether it’s a dress made entirely out of chocolate or a portrait, landscape or abstract element made out of paper, thumbtacks, cassette tape, used tea bags or crayons – if it stirs curiosity and admiration, it qualifies as art.
I found it especially interesting that there is an artist called Larry Kagan with an amazing vision: he shapes wire in order to create a complex three-dimensional image when it generates shade. Not exactly sure what I’m talking about? See for yourself.
Next on the list of unusual materials are straws, bullets, bread and… post it notes of all things. The methods may be unconventional, but the results are nothing short of amazing.
Now that I’ve managed to stir up your appetite with that mouth-watering life-size car model, let’s take it further with meat and eggs – egg shells actually, but it’s close enough. And then have a laugh over an ingenious tissue box cover.
Last but not least – a beautiful painting created on a delicate leaf and an intricate sculpture from inside a snow globe. Don’t you just find all those minute details breath-taking?
I honestly hope that you found all these art works to be true design inspiration and that they fueled your creativity and took your designs to another level! I’m leaving you with today’s motto:
…and a question: through which of the mediums displayed above would you like to express your feelings and ideas?
