Sweet Vector Illustrations by Talented Artist Caramelaw
Tweet“Hello, here’s my namecard. Please don’t eat it.”
This is how Caramelaw a.k.a. Sheena Aw presents herself. She is a motion graphic designer/ video editor from Singapore with an incredible imagination and personality and I just had to share her vector illustrations with you guys. She refers to her work as candy art – cute and morbid – what goes on in her mind when she closes her eyes. Caramelaw mainly draws her design inspiration from Takashi Murakami’s work, an internationally known contemporary Japanese artist and tries to convey through her designs the beautiful things that Earth has to offer (yes, she’s a big nature lover).
She’s done work for MTV Asia (for which she won a Silver PROMAX Award back in 2005), Sony International, DC Comics, Atomic Snowboard and many others. Now that we’ve gotten to know her a bit, let’s take a stroll through Caramelaw’s amazing Candy-land, which I think is the perfect combination between sweet and sour. This is the illustration that started it all:
She’s also created the cutest creepy concepts you’ll ever see. I am aware that sounds a bit strange, but you’ll understand what I mean as soon as you see them. We’re going to take a look at some samples of her pretty patterns designed for wrapping paper, too.
“I think it’s very important for an artist to be able to connect with people through their art. Whenever I create art, I hope it brings a smile to those who look at it. I get people coming up to me telling me they feel very happy when they look at my art and that is the best gift of all. The colors, the characters and the love that is put into it. I’m glad people are able to feel that.” (Sheena Aw)
You can also find Caramelaw on Facebook and DeviantArt. And we’d love it if you’d let us know what you think about her work in the comments section below.
