  1. I would be interested in a follow up article on where these designers are now and what type of positions these resumes have landed them.

It’s been my experience that most hiring managers and screeners are not the creative types. Although these resumes are unique and vastly appealing, your typical HR department is not going to generally understand the approach or get any “insider designer puns”.

Ultimately, I think a lot of these designs appear to be trying too hard to standout. I feel only a few of these examples are marketable against current products and services that are generally offered and not niche. Which as it stands are visually far more muted and simplistic.

Story illustrators? Yes. Mobile UI, print and web designers? Not so much.

It’s my hope that these designers landed some great projects that aim to innovate our current state of the visual market. But when profit is the bar, and not making beautiful things for beauty’s sake, somehow I have my doubts.

It’s been my experience that the designers who don’t innovate, rather replicate what’s hot today, get the most jobs.

  3. Can anyone reeommcnd the best free online classifieds sites besides Craigslist?I am looking for some pretty good online classifieds sites that offer free posting. I already use Craigslist, but am looking for something similar. I do searches, but always come up with sites that it looks like no one ever goes to. Any suggestions with links would be great.
