The Funny Side of Design: Designer Dirty Talk

The Funny Side of Design: Designer Dirty Talk

“Good humor is a tonic for mind and body. It is the best antidote for anxiety and depression. It is a business asset. It attracts and keeps friends. It lightens human burdens. It is the direct route to serenity and contentment.” – Grenville Kleiser

All work and no play makes Johnny a very dull boy. In this case, the boy called Johnny is you (it is called acting).

Humor is paramount, as Grenville Keliser says, for living a healthy life. Taking things too seriously can really do a number on both your mental and physical health. That is why it is important, from time to time, to take a step back and look really hard for humor in a situation. Nevermind what the corporate execs or the clients think you should be doing!

Luckily, design is a well funny (and even fun) job to have. You really can’t be a good designer if you do not have a good sense of humor.

As many people would have you know, innuendos are the very essence of comedy and humor. They are extremely easy to do, thanks to the lovely doctor Sigmund Freud, and that is why there niche innuendo sites for, basically, any niche you might think of.

One niche, though, that felt a bit under-represented used to be the one for designers. Luckily, since March the 19th this year (anno domini 2014) we have Designer Dirty Talk, a lol-worthy innuendo aggregator, made especially for designers with a dirty, mischievous mind.

Designer Dirty Talk is brought to us by the courtesy of two designers from Bright Red\TBWA, an advertising agency from Tallahassee, Florida.

Bright Red is a rather old agency, established way back in 1987. In 2005 they were acquired by Omnicom, so it now operates in the \TBWA network of agencies. They gathered quite a bit of experience over the years, working on projects for big names such as The Ritz Carlton, Pilot, Homes.com and Nature’s Own.

The people from Bright Red\TBWA who are responsible for this jewel of a website are Eric F. Thomas and Josh Pittman, two rising stars of the agency, so we thought we should tell you a little more about them.

Firstly, let us talk about Josh. An alumni of Florida State University, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Advertising, Josh has been working for Bright Red for just over a year, now. During this time, he has worked for clients such as Nature’s Own and Amtrack, as well as placing 2nd in the Florida District in the National Student Advertising Competition. He was his University’s Creative Director for this competition.

Eric F. Thomas has been with Bright Red for nearly three years, but has been working for the company’s head honchos since 2002, when he started working for The Zimmerman Agency. Currently, he is Associate Creative Director and Senior Designer at Bright Red, a position that has brought him work from such names as Party City, Net10, Cooper Tires and Tacos Gringos.

So those are the minds that brought you Designer Dirty Talk. If you still are not convinced to check the site out, next we will be showing a few more of the innuendos we liked the most.
