Hyper realistic Wax Sculptures by Bobby Causey

Hyper realistic Wax Sculptures by Bobby Causey

The idea of being able to build things bottom up, atom by atom, has made [scientists] all into tinkerers. And all of a sudden scientists are seeking designers, just like designers are seeking scientists.

Wax is a part of a chemical compound that is plastic, malleable, they can also be lipid. The characteristic thing about wax is that it melts above 45 Celsius, or 113 Fahrenheit. By melting the wax you can mold it however you want, but this takes skill, skill that is developed through time. Countless of hours trying techniques, and trying to give it a shape is really hard work, and I’m not even going to mention how hard it is to master basic things.

But what about actually creating a human body out of it? Well, not really a human body, but something that mimics the appearance of the human body. Bobby Causey managed to do so, but not only he made shapes mimicking a human body, he made it so perfectly that you can mistake it for the real thing.

His main focus is wax sculptures of your favorite movie characters, that indeed freak you out. He doesn’t stop there, he makes wax sculptures as he pleases, and we couldn’t be more happy. Wax is an art, it truly is. Now lets take a ride and see some beautiful models that Bobby created.

1. Heath Ledger as The Joker

No, Heath Ledger has not risen from the dead, it is just a wax sculpture of his portrayal of the Joker, from The Dark Knight Rises ( if you haven’t seen it by now, drop anything that you are doing and watch it, it is amazing). Look how perfectly crafted his body is, and not only that, pay a little bit of attention at the details.

His scars are exactly as they are in the movie, his stance, the way he frowns, I bet that if you take a peek at his teeth, they would be stained and yellow. Watch out Batman, the Joker is on the loose, and Bobby is behind his every move.

2. Brad Pitt as Tyler Durden

A younger Brad Pitt as Tyler Durden, a character from Chuck Palahniuk’s novel Fight Club, and David Fincher’s movie. I say a younger Brad Pitt, because yeah, Brad Pitt is getting old. Have you realized that he is 51 years old now? That puts things in perspective a little bit.

I just love that Bobby created the soap also. Is it from human fat too? Haha, that will probably be a never answered question. He got everything right. From his hair style, bloody unshaved face, to his clothes. Great work man!

3. Jack Nicholson as Jack Torrance

Another incredible piece of wax by Bobby. This time it is Jack Nicholson portraying Jack Torrance from The Shining, a film by Stanley Kubrick – a director that I highly recommend. If you haven’t seen any of his movies, The Shining is a place to start. He revolutionized the cinematography with his brilliant and innovative ideas.

But now lets get back to Jack. It gives me goosebumps just by looking at it. How did he managed to get that facial hair so perfect? He literally screams “ Here’s Johnny!”. Ow, and look at that wound at the top of his head. Kudos to you Bobby!

4. Christopher Reeve  as Superman

I bet you instantly recognized him as Superman, without even looking at the title. Christopher Reeve did an incredible job playing Superman back in the day, and we have much to thank him for. Bobby also did an incredible job creating this wax model for us.

What a shot of nostalgia you brought to us today. That swirl of hair makes everything seem right. What do you think? Is it a top notch creation? Tell us in the comments section below. We would love to hear your opinions.

5. Ron Perlman as Hellboy

Mike Mignolas Hellboy comes to life once again, with a little help from Bobby Causey. Yes, not Guillermo del Toro, he made the movies, he didn’t write the comic book. Bobby seems to know how to make us gaze at his works.

I have been standing here, for the past 10 minutes, just admiring his work of art. The thing that gets me is the stare. Watching something out of the frame. It just boggles my mind, and makes my imagination wreak havoc. Shivers down my spine, really. What is Hellboy up to? What is he staring at? Do you got an idea? Tell us in the comments section below and let us be amazed.

6. The Bat Mobile

He doesn’t only make incredible wax sculptures of your favorite movie characters, he makes cars also. In this particular case, Bobby created the Bat Mobile. Yes, it is made entirely out of wax. How cool is that?

And no, it doesn’t have a real engine, but that would be cool. You can clearly notice that this is the older model, used by Michael Keaton, in Tim Burtons Batman series.

7. Night Crawler from The X-Men

Alan Cumming played Kurt Wagner, the mutant known as Night Crawler in Brian Singer’s X2. His power, besides looking freakishly awesome, was teleportation. Blah, he gives me the heebie jeebies. He looks so real. Those killer eyes, and that smug grin is going to give me nightmares for sure. Beautiful art work Bobby.

8. Jim Carrey as The Grinch

We all know the tale of how the Grinch stole Christmas, and how he got his heart. It seems that Bobby knows it also.

This is the end of our journey today, I hoped you liked it. If you have enjoyed Bobby Causey’s work, you can check more of it on his website, or you can go check his Facebook page. He usually posts more often on Facebook.
