Showcase of Old & New Creative Book Cover Designs

Do you know the expression “Don’t judge a book by its cover?”. I have to admit that when I’m looking to buy a book, the first thing that catches my eye is the cover. If the cover has an interesting design, I pick up the book, I look at the title and the author and afterwords I read the brief on the back.

Really now, if most people didn’t judge a book by its cover, then a lot of graphic designers would be out of job. We all know that book covers are difficult to design and nice to look at. For a book cover to be effective, it needs to catch the viewer’s eye and get him interested – the cover is like the ambassador of the book so the designer has the hard task of conveying the idea of the book into one single page.

I know that there must be thousands of great book covers in this world, from all around the world writers, but today I put together a list of some old and a few new books with an interesting and creative cover design which some of you may find inspiring. If you know any other creative book cover designs please share them with us in the comments.
